Post 24 Hours Of Great Glen - This saturday & sunday
24HOGG

So the Ningman, Robin and myself (along w/ another guy that doesn't ride w/ us normally) are doing the 24HOGG this weekend. The race starts Saturday at noon and ends Sunday at noon. They are doing something a bit different with the timing this year, and you'll be able to see how were are doing in real time as soon as the first lap is over (around 1 in the afternoon on Saturday). Below is the email I got from the promoter, you can follow the team or an individual rider and cheer us on "digitally". Wish us luck, we'll be back at the ride on Tuesday (probably still tired). Later! Jay

**below is the email and web link**

The 24 hour race starts at noon Saturday this year there is RealTimeā„¢ Scoring Features: Right after the first laps start logging, you'll be able to see your lap time and how you are stacking-up against the competition. And, your friends and family will be able to follow your progress from anywhere in the world because we'll be broadcasting the results to the internet in real-time. When the race is over you will be able to review all your lap times as part of the permanent archive. But it will be during the race that you'll have the most fun using RealTimeā„¢. All of the features listed below will be available throughout the race.

Post Congratulations - Great Ride
I see you are in the last hour and killing the competition. You guys are in the wrong class - no beginners in your team. Well Done.

Nice job guys.

32 out of 149 overall, not bad for your 1st 24hr.

I was following you guys progress this weekend over the Real-Time scoring too - nice job!! I gotta join FuelEx on calling you guys out - SANDBAGGERS!!! Not a beginner amongst ya - and you guys have been smoking me all season.

Nevertheless - nice job on holding it together for 24h straight.

I would really be interested in doing that race next year - anyone want to get a second team going with me?

Thanks for the "kind" words...

Actually, Jeremy (the team captain and the guy who talked me into this) just started mountain biking last year, and the rest of us just started racing this year... you know... beginners...

I knew that this was going to be hard both physically and mentally, but whoa! We started doing double laps at about 10pm so that we could get more rest. My shift started around midnight and went till like 2am. The trails felt empty for some reason and it was cold... very cold...

I got to be the lucky guy to take the last lap, and as I was sprinting to the finish the rest of the team was there right at the line cheering me on. Rob (who played an extremelyl important support roll) had been shaking a PBR can for about 5 minutes and cracked it and sprayed me as I crossed the finish line! That was the best way to finish a race!

Aaron, I would definately do this race again next year! It was quite the experience!

There are not words for how valuable Rob was to our team. He kept our schedule tight, made sure we were at the scoring tent to take over for the previous rider, kept us fed, bikes rolling and in general made the whole mood around camp very mellow. No one had to worry about anything other than riding a bike. Rob, thanks again buddy! This win would not have been possible without you!

I think double laps at night is the way to go - when I did the 24 of the Adirondacks, we were a four person mixed team, and the chick left the three of us dudes to hold it down from about 9pm-7am. It was 1 hour on, two hours off through the night, which basically means not enough time for any meaningful rest. I went out for laps @ 7pm, 10, 1, 4, 7, and the last lap @ 11am.

The 4am lap sucked hard...

Very cool to be a part of this race....Anyone thinking about being a part of a 24hr race in any way should do it, its a great experience........ Good work to all CCD riders this weekend, you guys killed it. I am sorry not all riders got a ice cold PBR shower at the finish line, I had to save a few for myself

I'll bet! I had the "12 - 2 shift", but Todd had the "2 - 4 shift" which I think probably was the worst... He layed it down real consistant though!

That PBR shower was about the best thing going at that point let me tell you! :D
